The OX2000 is the largest tank in the OXSEA range. It holds 2.3 liters of air, enough for 20 to 25 minutes near the surface depending on your breathing, the depth and the effort. You wear it on an adjustable back harness, with an external regulator and a remote gauge you can read during the dive.
Who it is for
The OX2000 makes sense when the smaller tanks keep sending you back up before the job is done.
- Bigger boats. On a twin-engine boat there are two props, two shafts, two sets of zincs and more hull to look at. A session that takes three refills with a half-liter tank fits in one.
- Regular hull work. If you keep your own running gear clean between haul-outs, 20 minutes lets you work at a calm pace instead of racing the gauge. Our guide on cleaning a hull in the water covers the method and the marina rules.
- Slow swims. With the OXAIR mask, you can follow a reef, a jetty or a wreck at your own pace and stay down to watch.
How much air that is
2.3 liters at 200 bar, about 2,900 psi, expands to roughly 460 liters of air, about 16 cubic feet. A standard aluminum 80 dive cylinder holds about 80 cubic feet. The OX2000 sits in between: far more than the half-liter tanks, still a compact tank made for shallow water.
Refilling it
The OX2000 pack on oxsea.shop comes with the 12 V / 220 V compressor. It runs from a 12 V battery or the mains, so you can refill on board, at the dock or ashore. Filling 2.3 liters takes longer than the 12 minutes of a half-liter tank: start the compressor when you come out of the water, and the tank is ready for the next session.
On a boat, connect the compressor to the house battery, never to the engine's starting battery, and shut the engine down while it runs. Exhaust contains carbon monoxide, and whatever the compressor draws in, you will breathe underwater. Our article on refilling from a boat battery does the amp-hour math.
The hand pump does not fill this tank: it is made for the 0.5 liter tanks only.
Is it too much tank?
It can be. If your jobs last five minutes, a 2.3 liter tank is more to carry, more to refill and more than you need. The OX500Plus and the OX1000 are worn the same way with less air. The comparison page helps you choose.
More air, same rules
Twenty minutes of air is a temptation to go deeper. Do not. Stay shallow, breathe continuously, never hold your breath on the way up and ascend slowly. Engine off and keys out before anyone goes under the boat, a dive flag up (see dive flag rules in the US), and someone on deck who knows how long you have been down. The safety guide on oxsea.shop covers the rest.
